Assignments for the Week of June 21

Here are some challenges for the week:

a. Get outside every day to run, jump, bike, walk for at least 30 minutes.  Better yet, take your ball outside and practice your juggles and dribbling.

Assignments for the Week of June 14

Here are some challenges for the week:

1. Inspirational video:  I will ask you about the difference between a growth mindset and a fixed mindset at one of our webinars

2. Skills challenge (this will also be your exercise challenge):  set 2 cones 20 yards apart (20 yards is 20 big steps); dribble the ball as fast as you can from one to the other; rest for 15 seconds in between each run

a. Do 10 runs as fast as you can for each challenge – this will be 50 times total!  Take a short break in between each set

i. Right foot only

ii. Left foot only

iii. Alternate right and left feet

iv. Alternate inside and outside of right foot

v. Alternate inside and outside of the left foot

b. This should take about 10 minutes to complete, try to do it 3 – 4 times this week

c. Did you get bored?  Try it with a friend or family member and race each other.  Try playing fun music—maybe “The Champion” by Carrie Underwood

Here are some challenges for the week:

1. Inspirational video:  watch this 11-year-old weightlifter

2. Exercise challenge:  jump rope 3 days this week while listening to a song

a. Try listening to our team songs—try “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten

3.  Skills challenge:  Get 2 cones or something that you can put on the grass (almost anything will work) and place 10 yards apart, practice dribbling the ball AS FAST AS YOU CAN in a figure of 8 rotation for 30 seconds; then take a 30 second break;  perform this 5 times;  then perform this 5 times but go the different direction

a. This should take about 10 minutes to complete, try to do it 3 – 4 times this week

b. Challenge yourself:  work on inside of the foot only; outside of the foot only;  left foot only, etc.

2. Plank challenge: try this for some fun soccer planks,  use your soccer ball!

3.  Skills challenge:  try this 5 minute video to work on your foot skills; when you learn the moves then substitute your favorite songs (or the team songs we have been using) when you practice

Training Pool webinars each week at 5:30 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays—No webinar on Memorial Day!

Homework:  Work on your soccer WOOP goal. We will talk about our goals at the webinar on Thursday. You may send a copy of your goals to coachmonicawilhelm@gmail.com . Always include a parent in all the emails you send to you coaches.
